UPHOLSTERY CLEANING TIPS![]() When we talk about cleaning upholstery professionally, we always have to use more steps to ensure we clean it correctly and don’t ruin the fabrics. When we clean upholstery with our industrial cleaning methods and machinery, we make sure to know what the fabrics are, how thick they are, and the age. These are things that you should know as well if you choose to clean your upholstery by yourself. Just like anything you clean, you should know what it’s made of and what will clean it the best. But, just like we said before, there are always more cleaning steps involved. This means that upholstery is a tougher cleaning job than carpet.
But don’t let that scare you off from cleaning your upholstery. Most home owners will clean their carpets regularly but don’t even clean the furniture that they use just as much. So be sure and clean your upholstery regularly, because this will significantly increase its lifespan and it will look, feel, and smell so much better when you do. CALL 830-433-5500

Keeping your upholstery looking great!

If you choose to use a liquid cleaning solution, just like with carpets and rugs, be ready to dry it out fast. Never let any liquid sit too long in your upholstery. Also, make sure that the cleaning product that you use is safe for the materials your upholstery is made out of. You wouldn’t want to ruin it with something you thought would keep it cleaned. So, when you use a liquid cleaning solution, have it in a sponge or rag that is moist but does not drip at all. You will not want any drops of liquid seeping into the fabrics of your upholstery, since you may lack the machinery to dry it out fully. If you can’t dry it out fully, the liquid can cause mold and start to smell awful.
Now, please know that if your upholstery is very expensive and is made with prestigious materials or leather, don’t just use any household cleaning agent to get it cleaned off. Using liquids or vacuuming leather upholstery is not only risky for you, but can cause damages that cannot be fixed by professionals afterwards. So, if you do have an expensive or leather upholstery set, we recommend letting the Pros go to work and get it done right. We have years of experience working with leather and other expensive fabrics and we will make sure that the cleaners we use are for that material and that we get it cleaned out without damaging it at all.
